Maithri’s post in the largest coalition has no power Featured

The position given to former President Maithripala Sirisena in the new Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna is powerless, said State Minister Roshan Ranasinghe.

He claims that it is just an advisory post. Ranasinghe noted that as Mahinda Rajapakse has been appointed as the leader of the coalition, conspirators have no chance of playing games.

He is of the view that the SLFO and the SLPP should contest separately in the Polonnaruwa District without contesting under the coalition.

We built a massive coalition - Dayasiri

The SLFP is ecstatic over the forming of the largest and strongest coalition in the history of this country, the Sri Lanka Nidahas Podujana Sandhanaya’ which was formed to contest the upcoming general election, said the SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara.

This coalition comprises two former presidents, ministers and it also has received the blessings of the current president, he said.

Jayasekara further said, “We contributed to form the country’s largest coalition. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa was appointed as the leader of this coalition and former President Maithjripala Sirisena was appointed as its Chairman and the founder of the SLPP Basil Rajapaksa will serve as the coalition’s General Secretary. Further the Deputy Chairmen is the leader of the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna Dinesh Gunawardena, while Wimal Weerawansa and myself will function as national organisers. The Deputy Secretary will be Mahinda Amaraweera. There are almost 10 parties that have joined this coalition by now.”
