The order was issued by High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne today after considering a revision application filed by the Attorney General challenging the bail order issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne.
During today’s hearing, Judge Manjula Thilakaratne determined that adequate facts have been presented in Court to proceed with the revision application filed by the Attorney General.
Accordingly, Parliamentarian Rajitha Senaratne has been summoned to appear before Court on the 5th of March.
The Attorney General filed the revision application before the High Court against the decision pronounced by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne who granted bail to the former Minister.
The Attorney General’s Department claimed that MP Senaratne has been granted bail by violating the fundamentals of natural justice and thereby requested Court to revoke the bail order.
Parliamentarian Rajitha Senaratne was arrested previously after staging the controversial ‘white van abductions’ media briefing during the period leading up to the 2019 Presidential Election.
