Ravi Jayawardena is a leader of the 'National Movement for a Just Society' founded by Ven. Maduluwawe Sobhitha Thero and also the Chairman of Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero Commemoration Foundation.
Ravi Jayawardena, a lawyer by profession, was the United National Party (UNP) organizer for Horana for a while and helped to expose many corruption scandals in the previous Rajapaksa regime by forming an organization called 'Corruption Watch'.
The Corruption Watch was the first to reveal number of large scale financial frauds in the country including the 'hedging deal' involving the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation .
After the good governance government came to power, Ravi Jayawardena was appointed Chairman of the National Rupavahini Corporation and later the Chairman of the Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka.
Ravi Jayawardena, a law graduate of the University of Colombo, holds a Masters Degree in International Relations from the University of Lancashire, England.
Previously, he was also the Commissioner of Prisons.
