Former Ministers, deputies face legal action

Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs and Provincial Councils Siripala Hettiarachchi has informed all former Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers and State Ministers in writing that legal action would be taken against them if they continue to delay in handing over their official residences and official vehicles given to them by the Government.
Secretary to the President Dr. P.B. Jayasundara too had informed them earlier to hand over these state properties as early as possible to facilitate the new Ministers and State Ministers to accomplish their public service efficiently and early as instructed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Only former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka has returned the vehicles and left his official residence as at now. As a result, providing vehicles and residences to the new Ministers by the Government has become a serious problem, Secretary Hettiarachchi has emphasized in his letter to the former Ministers.
When inquired of a former Cabinet Minister in the Kurunegala District about this matter, he confirmed that this is a true fact and that he too has received a letter from the Ministry of Public Administration.
