He said this at a media briefing held at the party headquarters in Pitakotte.
He said that all parties supporting the SLPP have discussed contesting the upcoming general election as a coalition with the condition that they would contest under the Chair symbol.
According to Gammanpila, those who claim that the SLPP will contest the general election under the lotus bud symbol are unaware of the agreement with the other parties or they are those with personal agendas, he said adding that in order to prevent any misunderstanding, the SLPP leadership should notify all their supporters regarding the agreement reached with other parties supporting them.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the UPFA Mahinda Amaraweera said that the decision being considered by the SLPP to contest the general election under the lotus bud symbol is not such a serious issue, adding that they are not ready to lock horns with the SLPP over this issue.
He said there was no crisis between the SLPP and the SLFP with regard to the upcoming general election, adding that any issue could be discussed with the President and Prime Minister and resolved.
