However, he said that after the General election he had no desire to occupy the Speaker’s seat.
He noted that he is more in favour of active politics, adding that however, so far he had not been asked to take on the Speaker’s post.
He also said that he is willing to carry on the role of the Speaker in the manner Chamal Rajapaksa did.
However, Sri Lanka Mirror learns that the government has no plans to offer the Speaker’s post to Vasudeva Nanayakkara.
It is reported that as he was not awarded a ministerial post, a Secretary of his party had initiated this news campaign regarding the Speaker’s post being given to him.
