Tea smallholdings chief accused of vehicle misuse too Featured

Tea Smallholdings Development Authority chairman Wijeratne Devagedara is accused of having misused four vehicles owned by the institution.

The car bearing the no. PC-3476 is being used by ministry coordinating secretary Lakshman Kumara.

A director board member of the Authority, Nuwan Wijesinghe, uses the car with the no. 58-8987.

Both are considered misuses.

An Isuzu Cooper (no. 65-5816) and the Cab (no. 52-2605) are at the Autocare Garage in Nawalapitiya.

Both had been towed to Nawalapitiya from the Authority’s head office at Battaramulla.

Previously, a garage at Battaramulla had repaired all vehicles of the Authority.

Meanwhile, Thalangama police are yet to investigate a complaint it has received on January 17 that chairman Devagedara has assaulted authority’s Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya branch president W.V.S. Surasinghe of having sent a letter to his wife against him.
