Ragging ruins future of 2000 uni. students Featured

Due to ragging incidents in 2017 and 2018, out of the registered university students 1989 had dropped out, according to the University Grants Commission.

In 2017 29,368 students had entered university and in 2018 30,101 students had entered university. However, in comparison to the  number of students who had dropped out, it is a staggering number, the UGC stated.

Due to the increase in sexual harassment during ragging, a large number of students drop out of university.

In order to control this situation, the UGC has introduced a centre to report ragging, a hot line and an e-mail.

To date, over 700 complaints of ragging has been received and the UGC has taken measures to notify the relevant university administration for action and to find ways of resolving these issues.
