Gota's intel informs of assassination attempt : Complains to President  Featured

Former Defence Secretary and presidential candidate of Sri Lanka People's Front Gotabaya Rajapaksa has complained to the President that his intelligence officers have informed him that a terrorist group in the North is planning to harm him during the forthcoming election campaign and that he should investigate and take appropriate action.

The former Defence Secretary has told the media that according to information he has received, not only him but Douglas Devananda and Karuna Amman are also at risk and the complaint lodged with the President states the same.

He said that there is an attempt to use a sniper rifle and a special type of gun imported from Malaysia for this attack.

It is said that the President has ordered the Director of Police Terrorism Investigation to investigate into the matter following Mr. Rajapaksa's complaint.

Gota's Volunteer Force

Meanwhile, for the first time, Gota's volunteer security unit has stayed on guard when he visited the Temple of Tooth Relic in Kandy recently.

The unit has provided heavy protection allowing no civilian to come near him.
