CTSU concerned on Grade V Scholarship paper as marking begins

The Ceylon Teachers Services Union (CTSU) has raised concerns over certain questions which appeared in this year’s Grade Five Scholarship exam paper.

These concerns had been raised in the backdrop of the marking of exam papers which began today (Aug 15).

Issuing a press release, CTSU General Secretary Mahinda Jayasinghe claimed that some questions had been chosen out of the Grade Eight syllabus.

He pointed out that Question Six in Paper One, and Question 43 in Paper Two were not based on the syllabus of Grade 3, 4 and 5 from which students prepare for the exams.

Accordingly, he urged that swift attention must be paid to this matter as the marking of papers have already commenced.

Prior to the exams, the Department of Examinations had announced that the paper would be considered confidential even after the conclusion of the exam.
