Army Chief at Nallur Kovil (Pics) Featured

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army and a group attended religious observations at the annual religious ceremony of Nallur Kandasami Kovil in Jaffna today (14 August).

The annual religious ceremony at the Nallur Kovil in Jaffna commenced on the 6th of August and the ceremony will be concluded after the water cutting ceremony on the 30th of August.

The Nallur Kovil governing council said that a large number of people are expected to attend the annual festival of the Kovil this year.

Including followers of Hindu religion of the North and East, a large number of people from abroad go to the Kovil during this religious ceremony every year.

The Army Commander's visit is aimed at protecting the Kovil and paying homage to the Kovil.

Following the rituals of the Nallur Kovil, the Commander of the Army and the group kept their upper bodies uncovered and participated in the ceremonies of the Kovil.

Commander of the Security Force Headquarters – Jaffna, Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya and several other senior officers of the Army also participated in the program.
