They had said this in response to questions raised by the PSC regarding a statement made before the PSC by MP Dayasiri Jayasekara that the bomber had not detonated his bomb at Taj Samudra as there was a VIP there.

In his testimony Shani Abeysekara said that the bomber had tried to detonate his bomb at the Taj twice, but as his device had failed, he had gone to a hotel in Dehiwala and it had exploded there.

He also noted that there was no name of any VIP on the guest list at the Taj on the day of the explosion.
