The highest number of students amounting to 242 had been admitted to the Kurunegala Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya.
The number of students that had been admitted to the Gampaha Bandaranayake Vidyalaya violating the circular is 219.
In addition, 193 male students had been admitted to the Kurunegala Maliyadeva Visyalaya, 143 students to Kandy Kingswood and 138 students to the Kiribathgoda Vihara Maha Devi Balika Vidyalaya.
The number of students admitted to the Kalutara C.W.W. Kannagara Vidyalaya stood at 172.
Colombo Royal College had admitted 124 students, 135 to Kandy Mahamaya Balika Vidyalaya, 114 to Negombo Harischandra National School, 102 to the Kalutara Balika Maha Vidyalaya and 109 to the Pinnawela Madya Maha Vidyalaya, violating the provisions of the circular.
The rest of the schools had admitted a rather small number of students.According to the Education Ministry 2008/37 circular, the maximum number of students allowed in a primary classroom of a national school is 40 and 45 students per classroom in the secondary grades. However, the above mentioned schools had enrolled students way beyond the stipulated number.
