Haleem noted that discussions are underway regarding the amendments discussed and agreed upon during the meeting held by the Muslim members of parliament, the amendments proposed by the Muslim religious groups and the clauses that needs to be amended.

The Minister said that while there are suggestions that the Muslim marriage laws needs to undergo changes, attention has also been focussed on the changes needed to be made to the current structure.

Haleem said that all relevant parties would discuss this matter and once an agreement is reached, they would meet the Justice Minister and present a Cabinet paper.
