Animals in hunger due to Easter Sunday terror attacks Featured

Due to the tourist visiting the Dehiwala Zoo and other zoos in the country dropping by around 95%, it is hard to find the funds to feed these animals, according to National Zoological Department sources.

It is reported that the income of the Dehiwala, Pinnawela, Gonapola, Hambantota and Wagolla Zoos functioning under the National Zoological Department, have reduced drastically after the Easter Sunday terror attacks.

The National Zoological Department stated that around Rs. 600,000 is needed per day for the provision of food for the animals.

Therefore, the National Zoological Department said that they are forced to obtain the money from the Treasury in order to meet the food expenses to feed these animals.
