In response to a request for electricity to this venue, the Archeology department had given the green light on several conditions.
On June 26, the department's deputy director in Rathnapura region - A.E.L. Thilakawardena has even written to the Kahawatta electrical engineer on this regard and the letter is shown below.
Accordingly, the electricity engineering office of the Kahawatta area had visited the site yesterday (27) on the directives of the piwer and energy minister - Ravi Karunanayake.
However, they had not been able to conduct their duties as another letter by Mr. Thilakawardena had temporarily revoked the permission granted to provide electricity to the site.
The letter revoking the permission is as follows :
'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns that permission was revoked on the influence of Sajith Premadasa whose ministerial portfolio includes archeological affairs. It is said that this is due to a prolonged personal grudge against the power and energy minister.
