CTB deploys around 600 busses due to train strike Featured

The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has taken measures to deploy an additional 600 busses to provide transport for those affected by the train strike, according to the SLTB General Manager P.H.R.T. Chandrasiri.

He said the leave of all SLTB drivers have been limited to ensure there are enough busses to provide transport to the public.

The Transport and Civil Aviation State Minister Ashok Abeysinghe said the government would provide a solution within the next two weeks to sort out the issues which led to the railway strike.

The State Minister also noted that despite the strike, many of the trans had been operating yesterday.

Railway strike to continue

The Railway unions claim that as planned the strike action would be effective until midnight today.

The Railway Trade Unions launched the strike action at midnight on June 20th based on several wage demands.

Railway Trade Union Collective Co-convenor Lal Ariyaratne however, warned that if their demands are not met and a solution is not granted, they would discuss with the other unions and launch another strike.
