It is the politicians who instigate people through social media
Meanwhile, the Translators collective in a statement said that it is the politicians who use social media to instigate people.
Excerpts are as follows;
“The Translators Collective vehemently condemns the actions of Minister Mangala Samaraweera to use social media to insult religious leaders. This is a clear act of instigating people by insulting the Cardinal and Rathana Thera using his personal twitter account. Recently, a university student was arrested for a social media post which was claimed to insight clashes among the people. However, Minister Mangala has blatantly insulted two reputed religious leaders who have gained public respect through his personal twitter account, which is a bad example to the people. Hence, the law should be implemented against him irrespective of his position.”
