Software Engineer spills the beans on how Saharan was given 50 mil!

The Software Engineer Akram Ahakkam who was employed at a private company was arrested in connection with the April 21st attack is currently in custody of the Police Terrorist Investigation Division.

A resident of Dehiwala, he was arrested on April 27th by the Army intelligence directorate officers.

Akram was arrested on charges of having connections with those connected with the Easter Sunday attacks and aiding and abating in illegal activities.

Upon interrogation, Akram had revealed that he had been involved in the process of connecting with persons with links to the ISIS through social media since 2014.

In 2015 he had entered a place teaching Islam on Prathibimbarama Road, Kalubowila and had met Ahmed, Aadil Ameez, Umair, Inshaf and Sashna Mohommed, who are currently in custody.

A person named Imad had gone to Turkey to join IS and had returned to the country in mid 2015.

Subsequently, he had conducted several lectures which were attended by the Dehiwala bomber Jameel and one of the Shangri La bombers Ilham Ibrahim, Akram had revealed.

Later, those who had joined from the Colombo area over social media had attended the wedding of Husney Mubarak in Kalmunai and had later met with Mohommed Saharan at the National Thawheed Jamath office in Kaththankudy.

Accordingly, the group had gathered in Colombo together with Saharan and his brother Seini and group and formed the extremist group and appointed Umair as its leader.

Then in 2016, this group had booked a reception hall in the Malwana area and a oath taking ceremony had been held there.

That same year, Ilham Ibrahim’s copper factory had gone under water during the floods and the suspect in custody had revealed that the money amounting to Rs. 50 million Ilham had received as compensation had been given to Saharan.

Akram had revealed that later the group had gathered at a house in the Kandy, Aruppola area and had discussed plans to damage Buddhist statues. They had also discussed that in the event a confrontation takes place, they pledged their willingness to launch suicide attacks.
The suspect had revealed that several training camps were held and Saharan had inquired as to who was willing to join the suicide team.

According to Akram, the Dehiwala bomber Jameel and Kochchikade bomber Muath and five others who had come with Saharan had volunteered to be suicide bombers.

He had revealed during interrogation that in February this year, the Dehiwala and Kochchikade suicide bombers had come to meet with him at the private company he worked in.

It was also found that after the April 21st bombings, this suspect had condemned the easter Sunday attacks on his Face Book account but had been maintaining social media accounts under the name Abu Khaleed.
