14 from Minuwangoda remanded: 60 arrested from Northwest

Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekera said that 60 suspects have been arrested in connection with the violent incidents that have occurred in the North Western Province and violating curfew rules.

The Superintendent of Police further stated:

"The police and the armed forces will use their power to stop mobs if they continue violently. 9 suspects and 5 others were arrested in Minuwangoda. They were remanded until May 2. The number of suspects arrested in the North Western Province is over 60. Several of them were produced before courts and remanded.

Several Police teams have been deployed in those areas. Two DIGs, 8 Superintendents of Police and ASPs have been deployed with the police teams. A special team is operating from Colombo. The arrested suspects will be given police reports mentioning their involvements in violent acts.
