Wijeyadasa summoned over complaint on Akila

Minister Wijedasa Rajapakse has lodged a complaint with the Presidential commission inquiring on corruption happened in government institutions saying that due to the decision taken by the Ministry of Education to provide vouchers instead of uniforms a big loss has been caused to the government.

A spokesperson for the commission said that the complaint was lodged against the Minister of Education, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and few other officials of the ministry.

Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakse has stated that the decision taken by the Minister of Education has resulted a Rs. 538.5 million loss to the government.

The spokesman said that Dr. Wijedasa Rajapakse is to be called to the special police unit of the commission next week to record a statement regarding this complaint.

Meanwhile a senior Assistant Secretary of the ministry is to be called tomorrow (08) to record a statement regarding a complaint received on the building of the Ministry of Agriculture in Rajagiriya.

According to the Presidential Commission, the inquiry into the alleged fraud in connection with importing vaccinations to the Maharagama cancer hospital is to be commenced on the 22nd of this month.
