Sale in New Year goes down

According to the spokesman of the fourth  cross street wholesale traders association Hemaka Fernando, sale of essential commodities has gone down drastically before the Sinhala and Tamil New Year as compared to new year season in previous years.

He says that around 3000 lorries would be dispatched from Pettah’s the fourth crossroads in first week of April annually and only 1500 lorries gone out this year.

It has been reported that special economic centers in Dambulla, Welisara, Thambuththegama, Bandarawela, Embilipitiya and other areas have received less number of vehicles compared to previous years.
