Regulations on health appointees tightened Featured

Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne has instructed the Health Ministry officials not to give transfers to newly appointed health officers until they complete 02 years of service.

The minister has decided that newly appointed officers need to render a two year compulsory service in the areas appointed, and should only be transferred on the basis of reasonable justifications.

He further said that the health management assistant and IT officers should be recruited immediately for current vacancies.

The minister also pointed out that approval should be obtained from provincial councils to make nursing service an island wide service.

As the provincial councils are dissolved, the minister has instructed the health secretary to discuss with the chief secretaries of provincial councils in this regard.

It was also decided to increase the uniform allowance of the nurses from Rs. 15,000 to Rs 18,000 and the allowance on accepting the goods from Rs. 500 to Rs 1,000.
