It is reported that the talks would focus on the upcoming elections and the new alliance proposed to be established between the two parties.
The initial round of talks between the two parties was held on March 14th.
According to SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara who had spoken to ‘Neth News’ this morning, this round of talks would be a decisive one in terms of forming an alliance between the two parties.

However, according to the founder of the SLPP, whether or not there is an alliance formed between his party and the SLFP, he is confident that the SLPP could win any upcoming election.
He had said this during a meeting with the representatives of the local government institutions.
Further, according to social media supportive of the SLPP, the party has the power to win any election by itself.
However, both the SLFP and the SLPP have taken a decision to issue a joint statement with regard to the decisions taken at today’s meeting.
The two parties had taken the decision to issue a joint statement due to other complications that might arise as a result of various individuals making contradictory statements that could jeopardise the process, said MP Ranjith Siyambalapitiya during a media briefing held on March 19 at the SLFP Headquarters.
