Cambodian monk dies during Sri Paada pilgrimage

The Nallathanniya Police say that a monk who had arrived from Cambodia has died at the Dikoya hospital last afternoon.

A 90-year-old monk Samaron Dan has passed away.

The deceased monk had come to Sri Lanka from Cambodia with a group of monks and had paid homage at Sri Paada on the 9th of this month. Meanwhile, he was admitted to the Dikoya Base hospital due to sudden illness while returning to Colombo from Sri Paada.

The Chief Incumbent of the Sri Pada Temple, Ven. Bengamuwe Dhammadinna Thero, paid his last respect to the body of the Cambodian monk, at the Dickoya Base Hospital last night.

The postmortem examinations of the deceased Cambodian monk had been carried out at the Dikoya Base Hospital yesterday and the remains will be handed over to the Cambodian embassy, the Nallathanniya Police further stated.
