He said that that candidate will surely win the election and he would take oaths on December 09.
He made these comments addressing the Women's Federation of the SLPP in the Kalutara electorate.
Minister Rajapaksa further said that Mahinda Rajapaksa will nominate the Presidential candidate and any candidate to be nominated will be supported by the SLPP, said Mr. Basil Rajapaksa.

However, SLFP parliamentarian Mahinda Samarasinghe says that if the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is not assured that President Maithripala Sirisena will be given the presidential candidacy in the next presidential election, no alliance will be formed between the SLPP and the SLFP.
Samarasinghe further said that Maithripala Sirisena has been doing great service since October 26 to cement ties between the two parties and there is no reason to prevent him from being the presidential candidate.
The SLFP decided to boycott the joint opposition rally in Kandy against Basil Rajapaksa's stance on the opposition presidential candidate.
