Details of President’s computer tender revealed Featured

With merely a year left prior to the end of President Maithripala Sirisena’s term, a tender for the supply of a large amount of computers and accessories is to equip 50 career guidance counseling centers, a spokesman from the President’s Office told Sri Lanka Mirror.

He noted that the president’s intention is to open 50 branches for career guidance counseling centers although permanent buildings have not been constructed.

He said the pilot project will commence centered around Polonnaruwa.

Each of these centers are scheduled to receive six computers and the purchasing of these tenders has been done in a transparent manner through a tender process, he said.

Tenders have been called for the supply of 300 desk-top computers, 25 touch screen computers, 50 lap-top computers, 20 multimedia projectors and 25 printers.

However, there is speculation over social media that these computers are being readied to be used for an election media campaign during the next election.
