He said the party leaders of the broad alliance formed between the SLFP and SLPP would discuss the matter and arrive at a decision regarding the logo.
Perera noted that they would contest all upcoming elections, including the Presidential and Provincial Council elections under this chosen logo.
He made these comments at a media briefing held at Thilanga Sumathipala’s Transformation Centre yesterday (21).
He said it was not the person that was significant, but the right policies and programs, adding that all parties represented by Maithripala Sirisena and Mahinda Rajapaksa they would win any upcoming election comprehensively.
However, the Duminda-Amaraweera faction which comprises the majority SLFP-MPs have vehemently rejected contesting under the ‘Lotus bud’. Their stand is that the SLFP should protect its identity and join an alliance without adopting and surrendering to SLPP policies.

Responding to these claims the Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna founder Basil Rajapaksa said irrespective of whether the SLFP and SLPP are in agreement or not, the SLPP has the ability to win any upcoming election.
He said this during a meeting with a group of provincial councilors at the party office recently.
