"21 SLFP MPs to be bought at Rs. 400 m each" Featured

Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara, a member of the Global Sri Lankans Forum, alleges 21 SLFP MPs, to join the government, are to be bribed Rs. 400 million each.

Speaking to the media on January 04, he charged their intention was to support a federal constitution.

With the support of these SLFP MPs, TNA MP M.A. Sumanthiran has been saying a new constitution will be passed with a two-third majority, Weerasekara said.

The money comes from the LTTE Diaspora, just a tiny bit of its wealth, according to him.

Meanwhile, a government spokesman has told ‘Lankadeepa’ that the draft of a new constitution would be submitted to the Constitutional Council next week.

Views and recommendations of constitutional experts have been incorporated in the draft.
