The Indian official is expected to have his first meeting with Dr. Saman Kelegama, who is his opposite number, to be joined by international trade ministry secretary Chandani Wijewardena.

The ETCA was due to be signed last December, but has been delayed due to the failure to reach agreement on whether to allow Indian IT professionals into the island.

At the upcoming discussion, the outstanding issues in the draft agreement are due to be discussed and resolved.
