The weedicide has been marketed at a price of Rs. 7,300 per litre.
It has already destroyed more than 1,000 acres of paddy land at Lankapura, Medirigiriya and Parakrama Samudra.
When contacted, registrar of pesticides B.A. Sumith said the weedicide was OK, but that overuse and spraying by machine have caused the situation.
He said the situation would improve within several days.
General manager of the company Kumara Ubeysekera too, agrees and says around 90 per cent of the damaged crops has regained normalcy.
