Earlier yesterday, party MP Nalin Bandara said the ministers would take oaths today.
Meanwhile, political sources say the list put forward by the UNF has 32 cabinet members.
However, the constitution allows a single-party government to have a maximum of 30 ministers only.
Therefore, the list will be amended today, the sources say.
At a media briefing yesterday, SLPP chairman Prof. G.L. Peiris said it would be an intentional violation of the 19th amendment if more than 30 ministers were appointed.
|Altogether, with the state and deputy ministers, the figure should not exceed 70, he said.
Peiris said the UNF was trying to argue that that condition would not apply, as there was an agreement with Ali Zahir Moulana, the only MP appointed under a different symbol.
