Media reports have also claimed that several SLFP MPs will be included in the cabinet.
However, as the concept of a national government is not applicable anymore, the cabinet will have to be limited to 30 ministers.
Speaking in a rally yesterday (15) JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said his party would defeat UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe‘s attempts to find “loopholes” in the constitution in a bid to increase the number of Cabinet portfolios.
Meanwhile, UNP Deputy leader - Sajith Premadasa says that president Maithripala Sirisena and prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will discuss and appoint the new cabinet.
He was speaking to media in front of the presidential secretariat earlier today morning.
"President Maithripala Sirisena and PM Ranil Wickremesinghe will discuss and appoint the new cabinet. No discussion was held on the group from the SLFP. The goodwill will prevail. Regardless of politics, views, nothing is more important than being humane," he said.
"Hatred never ceases through hatred... However, the welfare, the basic human rights of all citizens should be secured, keeping aside personal agendas," he added.
