The strike, initiated by the Ceylon Workers' Congress, is backed by other TUs of the estate sector from today (10) onwards.
Workers have also tyres in front of their tea factories as a mark of protest.
Speaking at a media briefing last evening (09), CWC leader - MP Arumugam Thondaman has said that he meet president Maithripala Sirisena today and urge him to intervene, to increase the estate workers' daily wage to Rs. 1000.
