‘Ready to recommend menstrual leave’ Featured

Women’s affairs minister Chandrani Bandara says she is ready recommend to the cabinet to approve menstrual leave for working women, if a request is received.

She says she personally believes Sri Lanka should take several provinces in China that allow a maximum of two days of leave as an example and grant menstrual leave.

The minister has told BBC Sandeshaya that some women undergo unbearable pain when they menstruate.

Before its introduction, the related practical problems should come under discussion and resolved, he added.
