Police become dysfunctional: IGP to be quizzed Featured

The police have become dysfunctional as a result of the political stalemate and are performing only their routine, court and traffic duties.

They are staying away from investigations and the CID, FCID, SIU and the STF are said to be in a standstill.

Police are unable to comprehend whose orders they should accept, said a top police officer.

Meanwhile, Irida Rivira reports that once the situation returns to normal, the CID will question IGP Pujith Jayasundara in connection with the alleged attempt on the lives of president Maithripala Sirisena and former defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
