BASL considers removing its chief Featured

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka is considering removing its chairman U.R. de Silva after he expressed a personal opinion that the dissolution of parliament is in line with the constitution and that it is appropriate to consult the Supreme Court over the matter.

'Lanka' reports that a majority of the BASL office-bearers is of the opinion that it is unethical and against its constitution for him to air his personal view over a sensitive matter of national importance without first consulting it.

The executive committee of the BASL is mooting strong action against him when it meets next.
