He made the remark at an official reception that was held in his honour at the Hulftsdorp superior court complex in Colombo today (22).
Perera said would take all steps to ensure an independent and corrupt-free judiciary to establish the public’s faith in it.
Stressing that he was sorry to see the law’s delays, the new CJ said he would work in special understanding of the legal issues of the poor segment of society.
He urged judges to commit themselves to their duties as the government has granted all privileges to them.
Perera said he faced numerous challenges in his 38-year career in the judiciary.
He thanked president Maithripala Sirisena for appointing him to the position.
