Bus owners are finding it profitable to use kerosene oil which is Rs. 70 a litre, rather than auto diesel which costs Rs. 123 a litre.
The head of a bus association says a long-distance bus can save around Rs. 5,000 a day if run on kerosene oil.
The Department of Motor Traffic says it is receiving complaints of use of kerosene oil to run buses, which is banned by the law as it causes air pollution and leads to respiratory illnesses.
