Orders to arrest Sri Gajan

The police officer attached to the Jaffna Police at the time student Sivaloganathan Vidya was gang raped and murdered in Punguduthivu Kytes, Jaffna and had assisted the suspects to escape, Sundareshan Sri Gajan has been ordered to be arrested and produced in court by the Jaffna Kytes Magistrate A. Judeson yesterday (10).

The Magistrate issued this order to the police when the case against the former Jaffna DIG Lalith Jayasinghe, who is facing charges for having assisted the suspects to escape, was taken up for hearing.

The CID notified court that Police Sub Inspector Sri Gajan had helped the chief suspect in the Vidya murder Swiss Kumar and others to escape.

The said Sub Inspector had fled after the incident and an investigation is underway to arrest him, police informed court.

The Magistrate ordered the case to be taken up for hearing on January 30 and the advice of the Attorney General is also to be obtained.

Further investigations are being carried out by the Kytes Police and the CID.
