He stressed this to Sri Lanka Mirror when asked for the UNP’s stand with regard to an ongoing proposal to form a caretaker government by the joint opposition and the SLFP.
Meanwhile, UNP MP Thushara Indunil told the media yesterday (08) that they were not frightened of the caretaker government talk.
The government will go forward despite any obstruction, he stressed, adding that the UNP, with its 106 seats in parliament, will not be shaken by the caretaker government proposal.
President will not betray the mandate
In the meantime, minister Palani Digambaram believes that president Maithripala Sirisena will never betray the public mandate given, as it was the UNP and the minority parties that brought him to power.
