Three wheeler meters made compulsory

The Road Safety Commission has decided to make meters compulsory for three wheelers from next month.

According to its Chairman Sisira Kodagoda, the relevant law would be made compulsory from the second week of next month.

He pointed out that there was no possibility to further extend the long period granted for three wheeler drivers to install a suitable meter for their vehicles.

Accordingly, Kodagoda warned that the law would be strictly enforced against three wheeler drivers who fail to install meters on their vehicles.

According to the new laws, issuing of a receipt at the end of the journey is also to be made compulsory for three wheelers in addition to the meters.
