The Medical Research Institute cautions the public against a spreading of influenza A in addition to dengue fever, both of which mostly having similar symptoms.

Fever for more than two days, cold, throat, joint and body pain and breathing difficulties are the symptoms, and a blood and saliva test could determine which disease it is, said MRI virologist Jude Jayamaha.

Mainly bed rest and consumption of liquids could cure both viral diseases in a healthy person, he said.

Complications could arise if pregnant women, small children, those with chronic illnesses and the elderly contract these diseases, he added.
