The Negombo magistrate, Customs and the Animal Productions Department have carried out the hearings.
This is the third time that the couple had been involved in such an incident.
They were fined Rs. 5,000 for bringing the dog into the country without a license, Rs. 100,000 for disrupting the duties of Customs officials which was later reduced to Rs. 15,000 as well as a Rs. 18,000 fine, and the court ordered them a six month prison term suspended for five years.
