AG’s report today on Ravi K! Featured

The attorney general will hand over a special report to the prime minister’s office today (12) with regard to former minister Ravi Karunanayake’s involvement in the Central Bank bond matter.

The PM will take the report to the president at the weekend and discuss if Karunanayake could be reappointed to the cabinet.

No opposition from president

At a recent meeting of the UNP politburo, the MP said the president had told him that he was not opposed to his being given a ministerial portfolio.

Karunanayake resigned from his cabinet position after the presidential commission report into the CB bond matter was publicized, with a declaration that he would accept it back once being cleared of wrongdoing.

Commission justified Ravi’s orders

A senior lawyer representing him told Sri Lanka Mirror that the commission report had justified the advice and orders given by Karunanayake to state banks with regard to the CB bond transaction.

The lawyer expressed hope that Karunanayake could be sworn in as a minister within days.
