Ex-Sumathi group staffers in SLC accounts division! Featured

The head and several other staffers of Sri Lanka Cricket’s financial division had served at Sumathi Group, owned by its former president Thilanga Sumathipala before joining the institution, FCID investigations have revealed.

They had been recruited during the period Sumathipala was the SLC president.

Sumathipala sent financial division chief Chandramali Koralage retirement upon her having reached 55 years of age, but had later obtained the services of persons aged over 80 years.

The SLC yesterday complained to the FCID regarding an attempted fraud of Rs. 900 million SLC received for the sale of broadcasting rights from a foreign television channel.

The head of finance at SLC is the accused and he had tried to transfer the money to his private account at a bank in Hong Kong.

After he had told them to transfer the money to his account, the TV channel informed the SLC about it.

In a statement, the SLC said it will carry out an audit of its accounts in the past one year.
