President rebukes SriLankan airlines over cashews served (Video)

Sri Lankan president Maithripala Sirisena has rebuked the country's national carrier - Sri Lankan Airlines over some nuts served during a flight.

He was addressing the National Farmer Convention on cultivation of barren paddy fields held at the Magampura Ruhunu International Conference Hall in Hambantota yesterday (10).

President Maithripala Sirisena has complained that, during a recent trip with Sri Lankan Airlines, he was treated to some cashews which were not fit for human consumption.

"When I returned from Nepal, they served some cashew nuts on the plane [that], let alone humans, even dogs can't eat, who approves these things?"

The airline, which has been dogged by heavy debt and corruption allegations over the recent years, is yet to respond to the claims.
