The CID chief is to be summoned before the judiciary to show cause over evading a court order, 'Sri Lanka Mirror' learns through sources from the Attorney General department.

On Aug. 29,  Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne ordered to arrest former Navy Commander, current Chief of Defence Staff Ravindra Wijegunawardena for aiding and abetting suspect Lieutenant Commander Chandana Prasad Hettiarachchi alias ‘Navy Sampath’ to be in hiding.

However, the arrest is yet to be made and the judiciary is to summon the CID chief to show cause after considering this as an contempt of court.

However, it is said that the court order is yet to be followed due to an order made by president Maithripala Sirisena.

According to the 'Anidda' newspaper, the president had ordered that information of the three armed forces be not given in connection with ongoing court cases into murders and disappearances.

He issued the order at a meeting on August 28 at his Paget Road residence attended by the defence secretary, chief of defence staff and top defence and police officials, it added.
