A ‘sleepless struggle’ near Colombo Fort Bo tree? Featured

Participants of ‘Jana Balaya Kolambata’ protest of the joint opposition today (05) will converge near the Colombo Fort railway station to hold a rally following religious observances at the Bo tree there, unconfirmed sources say.

Ex-president Mahinda Rajapaksa chaired a meeting to discuss their plans at his official residence yesterday afternoon, attended by party leaders of the JO and several SLFP MPs who left the government.

It has been decided there to delay announcing the venue for the rally.

MP Udaya Gammanpila says many participants have already arrived in Colombo to attend the overnight protest, which he described as a ‘sleepless struggle.’

Fifteen of the 16 SLFP MPs who joined the JO recently are expected to attend the protest.

Only Dayasiri Jayasekara has said that he would not participate, as it is not an event being organized by his party.
