Rosy’s official residence cleaning to cost Rs. 8.5 m

The Colombo municipal council is to handover a Rs. 8.5 million contract to a private company for the cleaning of the official residence of its mayor Rosie Senanayake for the next two years.

The standing committee on finances and the CMC have approved the payment.

CMC employees are surprised over the handing over of the task to a private company, whereas the CMC has a surplus of minor employees who are capable of carrying out the work.

The CMC has a Rs. 2,000 million fixed deposit and a Rs. 750 m bank overdraft.

Previously, the cleaning of the mayor’s residence cost Rs. 250,000 per month, under which seven workers were given the work.

The new tender increases that to nine workers.
